#TRYFOOTBALL

This program ran in 2023 from January 8 to February 12.

TryFootball Program

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are committed to making youth football more accessible by offering free youth programs, with the support of Blue Bombers corporate partners. #TryFootball is a free 6-week program for boys and girls ages 9-13 (born in 2010-2014), the goal is to encourage youth to try football through a variety of skills and drills in a safe and fun environment.

This program runs in 2023 from February 26 to March 19.

GirlsPlayFootball Program

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are committed to making youth football more accessible by offering free youth programs, with the support of Blue Bombers corporate partners. #TryFootball (Girls Only) is a free 4 session program for girls aged 9-13 (born in 2009-2014), the goal is to encourage youth to try football through a variety of skills and drills in a safe and fun environment.

This program will run in the spring of 2023.

Jr. Blue Bombers Football Skills Camp

The Jr. Blue Bombers Football Skills Camp gives kids ages 9 to 14 a chance to develop their football skills. The camp is free and will be held at IG Field in April.

The goal of the camp is to introduce kids to football through drills and skill-specific training challenges so they can improve their fitness and knowledge of the game. Certified coaching staff lead the program, allowing youth to learn in a safe and fun environment.

Winnipeg Youth Football Club Flag Football

The Winnipeg Youth Football Club is an after-school flag football program and an extension of the Inner-City Youth Football League delivered in partnership with Sport Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, Spence Neighbourhood Association, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, and Youth Agencies Alliance.

Over 200 kids in grades 4-6 participate in this free program which is held once a week for eight weeks. Kids are provided with transportation to and from the practices, as well as meals and t-shirts.

This program ran in 2022 from November 27 to December 18.

Blue Bombers Kick-off

The Blue Bombers kick-off program introduces children to football in a safe and fun environment. This free non-contact program is designed for children ages 4-8. The primary focus is to get kids active and engaged in football by learning the basics of the game.

Certified coaching staff lead the program utilizing a variety of football-related movements, activities, and skills. Kids participate in a series of fun drills that help them develop throwing, catching, and passing skills while helping improve their physical literacy.

This program will run in the spring of 2023.

Blue Bombers Futures Kick-off

Launched in 2018, the Blue Bombers Futures Kick-Off Program is designed for youth ages 4-8 and is based on Football Canada’s First Down Program. This program is free and youth can attend on a drop-in basis.


YOUTH TACKLE

Youth Football presented by BellMTS

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Bell are committed to making youth tackle football more accessible by supporting families who may require financial assistance. All thirteen clubs affiliated with the Manitoba Minor Football Association (MMFA) will benefit from a grant program funded by Bell to cover registration fees associated with their tackle football program.

Youth must be between the ages of 8-16 years old and must be enrolled in school.

Youth Football Coach of the Week

The Blue Bombers want you to join us in honouring youth football coaches (tackle) through our new Youth Football Coach of the Week Program. The goal of this program is to give youth football coaches the recognition they deserve while promoting the development of youth football throughout the province.
The Blue Bombers will select ten (10) coaches during the 2022 football season. Each winning coach will receive a Bombers gift pack, a commemorative game ball, and be honoured during a Bombers regular season home game. All youth football coaches in Manitoba are eligible regardless of their team size, league, or division. Coaches or their immediate family members are not eligible to nominate themselves.

Parents Clinic

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are pleased to announce the launch of a program aimed at educating football parents/guardians with information on player safety. In the fall of 2022, the Bombers will host a free clinic to provide helpful information to parents who have children either considering or currently playing tackle football.


FLAG FOOTBALL

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, in partnership with Football Manitoba, are proud to support Flag Football programs throughout the year by holding skill development camps along with hosting kick-off weekends and finals IG Field.

Have the Blue Bombers teach your P.E. Class! Are you interested in the Blue Bombers teaching your elementary and middle school students how to play flag football? Register for FREE for Flag-in-Schools where Blue Bombers guests will visit your school during your P.E. class and teach the fundamentals of FLAG through exciting football drills. In addition, when you register, you will receive a flag football kit including flag belts, footballs, and P.E. Flag curriculum.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

High School Football Coach of the Week

The Winnipeg Football has a mandate to advance and support amateur and youth football throughout Manitoba. One of the ways we do this is by recognizing high school football coaches who are making a difference in the lives of their players and our community.
Successful recipients are presented with a $100 gift card to the Bomber Store and a $500 cheque for their school’s program, made possible through the Blue Bombers 50/50 program. They are also recognized at half-time of a regular season game.

Game of the Week

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers High School Game of the Week kick-offs in the fall annually, with the game of the week being promoted through Blue Bomber website and social media channels.
Game of the Week schedule will be announced in early August.

Jack Jacobs Football Scholarship

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, in partnership with Eagle Vision, are proud to present the 2021 Jack Jacobs Scholarships. Two (2) $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to Indigenous high school students who plan on pursuing a post-secondary education, have a passion for sport and a commitment to the balance between sports and academics. This year’s scholarships will be presented to the recipients in January 2022.

High School Mentorship Program

This program is designed to grow the game of football among youth and help high school football athletes build a foundation of success on and off the field.
Details on player mentors and participating schools will be released in 2022.
