Jordan Younger
Defensive Coordinator
Jordan Younger returns in 2025 for his seventh season with the Blue Bombers and second as defensive coordinator.
Younger was named the defensive coordinator on January 8, 2024 after spending the previous five years as the club’s defensive backs coach and in his first year leading that side of the ball confirmed his reputation as one of the brightest minds in the Canadian Football League.
The Blue Bombers finished first in 16 defensive statistical categories in 2024, including opponent offensive points (19.9), touchdowns surrendered (33), net offence (328.6), first downs (311), passing yards (234.8), completion percentage (60.9), pass efficiency (86.9) and second down conversion percentage (42.3).
Cornerback Tyrell Ford and defensive end Willie Jefferson were both named All-CFL selections, with defensive halfback Deatrick Nichols joining them on the All-West Division team. Younger has now been part of a squad that has appeared in five straight Grey Cup games, with back-to-back championships in 2019 and 2021.
Younger came to the Blue Bombers in 2018 after working as the defensive backs coach with the Toronto Argonauts (2015-16) and previously with the Ontario Football Conference’s Oakville Titans and the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
As a player, Younger’s professional football career spanned 12 years, nine of which were in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts (2004-07, 09-12) and Edmonton Eskimos (2008). As an Argonaut, he was a three-time East Division All-Star and two-time CFL All-Star, and a leader both on the field and in the locker room. Younger won two Grey Cup championships with Toronto (2004, 2012). He was also voted the Argonauts’ defensive captain in his final season as a player when he helped the team hoist the 100th Grey Cup in Toronto.
Born in New Jersey, Younger played his college ball at the University of Connecticut. He began his pro football career with the Arizona Cardinals before starring for three seasons in Europe with the Amsterdam Admirals and Rhein Fire. He also spent time with the Washington Redskins and the AFL’s Indiana Firebirds.
