Fire Evacuees to be Hosted at Bombers Practice
WINNIPEG, MB., September 6, 2017 – Perimeter Aviation and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will host more than 500 evacuees from First Nations communities at practice on Thursday.
The families from Wasagamack, St. Theresa Point and Garden Hill First Nations are invited to have lunch on the concourse while they watch team practice, followed by a meet-and-greet with players and an afternoon of on-field activities and games.
Through an existing program with the Bombers, Perimeter Aviation flies 45 youth from First Nations communities to Bomber home games throughout the season. The communities that have been evacuated participate in this program will be at the September 22 and October 28 home games.
In addition, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have donated the proceeds of the Labour Day Classic away game 50/50 raffle to the Canadian Red Cross (Manitoba) for a total of $9,850 to aid in their disaster management and relief efforts.
