Jamie Stoddard was an undrafted longshot when he first arrived for Blue Bombers training camp in 2000. It’s not that he didn’t have some great college credentials – he was a CIAU First-Team All-Star in 1999 while playing for former CFL QB Tom Wilkinson – but he wasn’t considered quick enough to catch the eye of most pro teams.
Stoddard played nine seasons for the Bombers and carved out a respected career as a gluey-handed receiver who was both reliable and consistent. He appeared in two Grey Cups and pulled in 191 passes for 2,808 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career as a Bomber. His best season was 2001 when he finished with 34 receptions for 526 yards and four scores.
Nathaniel Bolton, the 18th of 20 children in his family, arrived in Winnipeg after stints with the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints and was the Bombers Most Outstanding Rookie in 1993 after finishing with 42 receptions for 730 yards and five TDs in just 12 games. Bolton played in just three games in 1994 and then joined the Frankfurt Galaxy of the World League of American Football as a running back and leading rusher and helped them to the 1995 World Bowl championship.
We highlighted Markus Howell at #82.
