WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Blue Bombers Head Coach Mike O’Shea today announces the club has named Paul LaPolice their Offensive Coordinator. LaPolice joins the Blue Bombers after spending the past three-plus season as an analyst for the CFL on TSN, and comes aboard with 13 years of CFL coaching experience.
“When we began our search for our next offensive coordinator, Paul was obviously very high on that list,” said Head Coach Mike O’Shea. “He’s a veteran coach in this league, with a great offensive mind, and someone who works very well with players. We’re very excited to have Paul join our staff, and lead our offence.”
The New Hampshire native last coached in the CFL from 2010-2012 as the Head Coach of the Blue Bombers, leading the team to a 2011 Grey Cup berth, while being named a finalist for the CFL Coach of the Year. He came to Winnipeg after three successful years in Saskatchewan, two of which he was the club’s offensive coordinator. LaPolice led the Riders offence to a 2009 Grey Cup berth, finishing second in offensive scoring, and second in touchdowns scored that year. He was the team’s receivers coach when they won the 2007 Grey Cup, his first season with the Riders.
LaPolice spent two seasons with the Blue Bombers (2002, 2003) in the role of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He also coached receivers and running backs during his time with the Blue and Gold. His first tenure in Winnipeg saw his offence break 14 franchise marks.
He’s also coached running backs with the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats throughout his CFL coaching career.
